習字 Japanese calligraphy English Ver.

At the beginning of Japanese calligraphy was the kanji culture that came from China. It is said that the first kanji were written during the Yayoi period (300BC-250AD).

However, for a while after the introduction of Kanji, it is believed that it was not used in its current form, and it took some time before it was used as a writing system.

However, it takes time to write a fine line drawing, so it gradually became simpler. It was begun in this way, and slowly became easier to write than it used to be, and converged to the Kanji used in modern Japan.

In 712, the Japanese notation of expressing kanji by sounds began to be used. This unique notation is called "Manyo Kana" and eventually leads to the birth of kana characters.

In addition to Manyo-Kana, "Kana", which is a simplified version of Manyo-Kana, has been created in order to read Chinese sentences as Japanese sentences.

With the importance of Japan's unique culture, soft calligraphy has emerged unlike the past.

It was at this time that the Hiragana first emerged.

In the Kamakura period (1185-1333), the notation of modern Kanji and Hiragana became common.

In the Muromachi period (1336-1573), calligraphy was accepted as an art. In addition, the culture of decorating the walls with calligraphy works and appreciating them has taken root.
