Judo was founded in 1882 by Mr. Kano .
The origin of Judo is Jiu-Jitsu.
Judo is a martial art that was newly established, aiming at nurturing personality, incorporating the original "jiu-jitsu" technique.
It was the wish of Mr. Kano Shihan to contribute to the development of society by completing oneself by training the mind and the body through practising Judo.
Judo is one of the Olympic martial arts where contestants, who are called Judo-ka, fight one on one in a tournament.
Judo-ka must wear a special uniform, called “judogi”
If you get a grip on the opponent’s jacket called “uwagi”, you will normally be in the best position to dominate the fight.
Each fight is up to 5 minutes for men and 4 minutes for women.
The fight starts with both participants bowing to each other.
